Isfield Camp

About Isfield Camp

  • Tranquil campsite surrounded by rivers, a short walk to Barcombe Mills and three great local pubs.

  • Short drive to Uckfield, and good transport links with London, Lewes and Brighton.

  • In a picturesque tranquil setting, with firepits provided along with eco-loos and hot showers.

Isfield Camp is situated on a large flat flooplain in the tranquility of a working farm with views of the South Downs. The rivers Uck and Ouse meet nearby providing a tranquil backdrop and the soothing sounds of running water. The site consists of a large open central area with plenty of nooks and crannies created by the meandering river, providing many large but sheltered pitches. There are different areas designated for families, groups and individuals, and everyone has access to a private firepit. Well behaved dogs on leads are welcome, as are VW style vans, who can camp alongside others in their group without a van. You can park alongside your camping area saving you from long heavy trips back and forth to the car.

Isfield Camp is located in the pretty village of Isfield, which is home to the Lavender Line Steam Railway. It is only a 35 minute drive from Brighton and just over an hour from London whilst it is easily reachable by train for those coming from London. This is to the nearby town of Uckfield which has multiple supermarkets to assist your stay.

Around the village of Isfield are plentiful walking and cycling routes, exploring the local river systems. The nearby Barcombe Mills is a hugely popular area for wild swimming and paddle boarding and boats can be rented from The Anchor Inn. Speaking of which, The Anchor is a fantastic local pub with a huge beer garden overlooking the rivers and is a splendid walk from the campsite. Also nearby is the Peacock on Buckham Hill, which is a stereotypical quaint Sussex pub, with a lovely terrace and excellent restaurant. Nearby, in the centre of the village is the Laughing Fish, which is next to the Lavender Line Steam Railway Station. On the way, you can also visit the Isfield Farm Shop, which provides local produce including a fully set up Butchers, perfect for your evening barbecue.

Isfield Camp emphasizes a back-to-basics, eco-friendly approach to camping with a particular focus on getting away from the pace of modern (digital) life. In the centre of the site, there are eco-loos, hot showers, washbasins, and a washing up area. This provides a sense of being off-grid whilst maintaining essential comforts.
Children will love the huge open space allowing plenty of games and running around!

There is a firepit on every pitch (large groups will have access to a larger communal fire) and we will come round with wood to purchase. We request that you don't bring your own wood as among other reasons, this can spread disease to the local area.
If you are worried about poor weather, or perhaps that your children might be ill for your trip, you can purchase Yamp Camp Flex which allows you to transfer your booking to another available weekend (See terms and conditions).
